Reviews about Habitat for Humanity ReStore

My mom and I just recently put my grandmother in hospice and had to clean out her apartment. We wanted to donate the majority of her belongings and needed to clean out of her apartment ASAP. I put in a request to Habitat for Humanity to pick up the items and the following day I received a call to schedule a pick up. They weren't able to do it as soon as we needed. I explained why we were donating the items and that I understood they weren't able to pick everything up since it was so last minute. Not even 5 minutes later I received a call saying they had a cancelation and could do it right then. When I got there, two guys were already waiting to be let in the apartment. These two men (forgive me, I was overwhelmed and forgot names) were super fast and efficient. I can not thank Habitat enough for making a difficult situation go so smoothly.

I hate it when people make me act ugly. :( So, I need 2 cabinets. 2. My daughter & I went to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis ReStore on Saturday. I found a set that would work. Problem was? It was $356 and change for 13 pieces. I needed 2, and they wouldn't just sell me 2. Okay, well, the secondary price was $285.33. Okay, no big deal, but I wanted to take a few days to think about it. I called in today, "hey is that set that was there on Saturday for $285.33 still there?" I could have honestly NOT cared whether they said "yes, but it's $356", but that's not what they said. They said "Yes, $285.33 for 13 pieces". Now, I don't know WHAT I was going to do with 11 more pieces, but I could have sold them, re-donated them, or whatever, but I did need the 2 cabinets, so ok - it was cheaper than retail, a match for what I had - Good Deal right? Take my lunch, drive ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way to Winchester & Riverdale, and go in to buy the cabinets.... I'd figure out how to get 13 pieces home later..... and I'm then told that "oh no no no, they aren't $285.33" - I figure ok I'm prepared to pay $356. Oh no, the 3 that BOTH My daughter & I saw on Saturday? Yeah, that has MIRACULOUSLY changed to an 8. They want me to pay $856 for some used cabinets that someone DONATED to them. Ummmmmm, no. Although I've heard great things from friends in other cities about their Habitat Restores, I'll never head back to the Restore in Memphis. Every single time I've "tried" to go in there to possibly buy something and help out Habitat, they have their prices marked at or above NEW retail. I've even seen items that I HAVE that they are asking more than what I originally paid for them NEW years before. I understand helping out, I understand volunteering, I do. I'm just NOT going to get ripped off in order to do it. After reading charles' review below, now I'm even more disgusted.
